Washington state’s economy added more than 6,000 jobs in December. That brought the seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate to 4.5 percent, says to the Employment Security Department. That is slightly higher than the national unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.
The Employment Security Department also said that November’s unemployment rate of 4.5 percent was really closer to 4.4 percent – a new low for unemployment in Washington. The state gained 11,100 jobs in November instead of the previously reported 9, 800.
One year ago Washington’s unemployment rate was 5.1 percent.
