Air Force men’s basketball had two cadet-athletes earn Mountain West All-Academic honors for the 2017-18 season. Senior Frank Toohey and freshman Keaton Van Soelen earned MW All-Academic.
Toohey recently graduated with a 3.36 cumulative grade-point average, earning a Aeronautical Engineering degree.
Van Soelen, a management major, had a 3.68 GPA. Van Soelen also earned Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors.
A record total of 1,000 student-athletes were named to the spring 2018 Academic All-Mountain West team. Spring sports include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and golf, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team. Leeway is granted due to injuries.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in a Mountain West-sponsored sport.
