SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) – A 4-year-old boy from Sioux Falls has been named the South Dakota State Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Isaac Haberman will make public appearances throughout the state, representing kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility.
He will also help motivate the public to support MDA’s mission by donating funds and raising awareness to help provide families with life-saving resources and support.
At age 3, Isaac was diagnosed with Pompe Disease, one of the muscle diseases covered by MDA’s research and care programs.
The MDA said Pompe can cause slowly progressive weakness, especially of the respiratory muscles and those of the hips, upper legs, shoulders and upper arms.
