Oregon 47 is shut down in both directions between Gaston and Flett Roads following a fire and car wreck in the area.
A car crashed into a utility pole around 4 p.m. on Oregon 47 at Goodin Creek Road, and about a mile north of the wreck, a brush fire started by wires was burning after 4 p.m., Matt Johnston, public information officer with Forest Grove, said. The fire has been put out, but Johnston said authorities were waiting for the power company to disconnect power to a wire in the area so hotspots could be put out. Johnston said he believes both incidents caused Oregon 47 to be shut down, but the incidents are not believed to be connected. Springhill Road between Gaston and Flett Roads is being used as a detour.
A separate fire outside of Forest Grove near Dilley Road burned about an acre of land, Johnston said. Authorities were trying to put out hotspots in the area afterwards. The fire was called in around 3:45 p.m. and appeared to have started from an old burnpile, Johnston said.
