The Merritt Island native is tied for 14th overall heading into the third round and will be teeing off at 1:09 p.m. Saturday with Russell Knox.
“It’s a great feeling knowing that my game is strong enough to compete with some of the best players in the world at a major championship and be able to make the cut,” DeMorat said.
DeMorat started the second round on the back nine and had an up and down start with a bogey, birdie, bogey, birdie before settling down to par the next six holes.
The 23-year-old is tied for 12th in putting for the tournament, averaging 1.61 putts per hole after two rounds. In the second round on Friday, DeMorat hit putts of 13 and 10 for birdie and just missed a 26-footer on No. 4, tapping in from less than a foot for par.
DeMorat joins Paul Azinger, Scott Gump and Mike Smith as former Titans to make the cut in the U.S. Open Championship.
You can watch the third round of the U.S. Open beginning at 11 a.m. on Fox.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to compete over the weekend. It will be a great experience that will only help me in my future professional tournaments,” DeMorat said.
