Attendance for this year’s Central Washington State Fair was down about a percent and a half from last year, figures released today show.
Total attendance this year was 321,600; in 2017 326,273 people attended. This year’s total was the second highest turnout on record.
Fair organizers say cool and windy temperatures on the final day of the fair likely caused the dip in attendance. They say through Sunday attendance was running slightly ahead of last year’s total’s, but Sunday’s attendance came in about 10% lower than last year’s.
“We’re extremely happy with this year’s fair,” said fair president and general manager Greg Stewart in a news release announcing the attendance numbers. “Any time we can get over 320,000 people out to enjoy everything we have here we are very pleased.”
