The Alaska World Affairs Council featured our Political Correspondent Tarhub Asghar of Pakistan’s Samaa TV today, during a special Member’s Coffee with the theme: “Exploring Roots & Reporting On The Ground In Pakistan.”
Today’s event was held at the Kaladi Brothers across from City Hall and was attended by many, including Lt. Gubernatorial Candidate Edie Grunwald, who is featured in our segment above.
In Tarhub Asghar’s talk, the journalist revealed what working as a reporter in the field is all about in her country, the education system, and her deeply rooted love for her people, culture and nation.

Tarhub Asghar is a Pakistani Journalist who earned her MPhil degree in journalism and gained her Bachelor’s in Biotechnology and Mass Communication from Forman Christian College, Lahore.
Currently, she is associated with a Pakistani media industry and works for news channel Samaa TV as a correspondent and a blogger. Before Samaa TV, Asghar was associated with express news, where she worked as researcher for a program “Khabardar”.
The proud Pakistani also worked with Geo News as researcher and covered 2015 local bodies elections and wrote articles for Jang newspaper on certain issues. Asghar produced a radio documentary and drama on social issues.
As our international reporter states, “I have the ability to think outside the box, which enables me to look beyond the mundane subject matter and delve deeper in the issues that makes her a good researcher.”
Asghar’s focus is mostly on current affairs, politics, women empowerment & rights and conflict resolution, especially in Pakistan. She has firsthand experience of covering stories related to terrorism, corruption, politics, health, education and culture. Tarhub Asghar’s ultimate goal is to eradicate corruption to make reforms in different sectors of Pakistan.
